Poem of the Month

Remember

I remember the days
when I sought sanctuary in your arms,
when your smile promised to block out all of the world's sorrows.
I twirled and danced,
a golden, gossamer dream,

Alive for you.
Alive.
And I laughed as everyone wondered how something
as corporeal as you
could hold on to me.
But secretly I recited:

I will not fade away,
Not this time.

But I did.
Refuge with you couldn't save me,
and your smile made promises, we both knew it couldn't keep.
Now all that's left are memories:

you of loving the impossible,
me, the impossibility of loving.
